On the Road with Wex: Filming, Talking and Meeting the UK’s Photography Community

This summer has turned into one of the most rewarding stretches of my career so far. I have spent the last couple of months out on the road with Wex Photo Video as part of their Summer Roadshow 2026, camera in one hand and a seminar in the other, travelling to stores across the UK to film the day for their social channels and to stand up myself and talk about my own move from stills into motion.

For anyone who has not come across it, the roadshow is a touring series that brings the biggest names in the industry, Sony, Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Panasonic and more, into Wex stores for a full day of hands on demos, expert advice and free talks from working photographers and filmmakers. I have been lucky enough to be part of it in two ways this year, behind the camera and in front of an audience.

What I Have Been Doing

My role on roadshow days is part documentary, part content creation. I turn up before the doors open and spend the day moving between the shop floor and the seminar room, capturing the queues forming outside, brands setting up their demo stations, attendees trying gear for the first time, and the talks themselves.

I shoot everything on my FX3, with the A7V as my second body for anything quick and handheld, and it all gets cut together in DaVinci Resolve, usually that same evening or on the drive home, so the content can go out on Wex’s channels while the day is still fresh.

The People Along the Way

The best part of this whole experience has been the people. Every stop brings a completely different set of faces, both on the shop floor and on the seminar bill, and I have been genuinely grateful for the photographers I have shared these days with.

Seeing that response has made every early start and long drive worth it, and it is a big part of why I keep saying yes every time Wex asks me back for the next stop.

Taking to the Stage

Alongside the filming, I have also been getting up on stage myself with a talk called From Stills to Motion: The Gear, Stories and Skills Behind My Freelance Work. It is a look at how I actually built a freelance career that moves between photography and video, the kit that earns its place on real jobs rather than just sitting on a shelf, and the thinking behind turning a stills background into a working video business.

I delivered the first one in Leeds back in July, and there are three more dates on the calendar before the roadshow wraps for the year. Here is where you can catch me next.

Final Thoughts

The Wex Summer Roadshow has become one of my favourite parts of the year. It is a chance to meet the people who actually use this gear, to learn from other photographers doing brilliant work in genres completely different to mine, and to talk honestly about what it takes to build a career across both photography and video.
